League of Women Voters: Written Questions and Answers
Q1. What do you envision as a workable solution for our water issues?
Likely city owned and privately owned desalination plants with regulations on intake velocity/filtration and a prohibition on discharging brine into the bay.
Q2. Do you favor an independent redistricting commission to redraw city council districts and why or why not?
I don't really have an opinion on it, but I would think that any changes should be voted on directly by the citizens through a referendum.
Q3. Which city issues are most important to you?
Wages and jobs - We've been seeing food prices rise, housing prices and rent have gone crazy since covid, we need to bring pay up in the area to get everyone's lives back on track. We need to support new and existing locally owned business, and reach out to new industries as well. Repair and beautification - We need to incentivize home and commercial property cleanup and repairs, perhapse through yearly tax breaks for repairs done. We need to also fine and tax abandoned, unused, and run down properties. Church encouragement - I'd like to help our churches drive membership and I insist on members doing volunteer work with them.
