League of Women Voters: Written Questions and Answers
Q1. What do you envision as a workable solution for our water issues?
Corpus Christi needs a reliable, affordable, long-term water supply built around multiple solutions rather than dependence on one project. I support pursuing large-scale seawater desalination at Harbor Island, which could provide up to 100 MGD, because this city needs vision, along with water reuse and additional regional supplies. I do not support the Inner Harbor desalination project because of its potential environmental impacts, high cost, limited capacity and lengthy timeline. Our water strategy must protect residents, support economic growth and ensure future generations have the water they need.
Q2. Do you favor an independent redistricting commission to redraw city council districts and why or why not?
I support fair, transparent district maps that treat every resident equally and follow the law. The process should use clear, neutral standards, equal population, contiguity, compactness, and respect for existing neighborhoods and communities of interest, ban partisan data, provide meaningful public input, and include real accountability.
Q3. Which city issues are most important to you?
My priorities are securing a reliable and affordable long-term water supply, improving basic infrastructure such as streets, sidewalks, drainage and lighting, strengthening public safety, and making responsible use of taxpayer dollars. I also believe Corpus Christi needs long-term vision. City government should plan ahead instead of simply reacting to problems, support sustainable economic growth, protect quality of life and operate with transparency and accountability while keeping residents at the center of decision-making.
