Leanne Winkler brings 20 years of journalism experience to KEDT. (Although saying so makes her feel like a fossil.)
After beginning her career in publishing, Leanne moved to Germany, where she was a civilian journalist for military newspapers. While in Germany, she indulged her love of travel and tried to pass off her constant chocolate consumption as ground-breaking research.
Stateside, Leanne spent 12, ink-stained years as a staff and freelance writer. Her work has been recognized by the Texas Associated Press Managing Editors and the National Society of Newspaper Columnists.
Leanne holds a bachelor’s degree from Trinity University and a master’s from Ohio University.
In her spare time, she is a bookworm or out and about with her family. Leanne is an avid runner whose idea of a good time includes a 13.1-mile route.
