Native South Texan Lon Gonzalez is a long time radio veteran, with stints in both commercial and non-commercial radio. Lon started his radio adventure in 1975 at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, and worked as a student assistant at the university’s public radio station. The station provided him with an insight to public radio and its diversified possibilities. He moved to the commercial side of radio not long after that, and worked in a variety of formats and on-air positions, as well as different markets in Central and South Texas. For the first few years of on-air work, Lon worked in a variety of formats that honed his on air skill. From on-air DJ work, Lon moved on to more serious work, when he got involved in Radio News in the late 70’s. He continued to work in Radio News for over 10 years, and made a successful transition into the world of Radio Production in 1989. Lon worked as Production Director for various station groups in Corpus Christi for nearly 25 years, earning accolades for his creativity, as well as his vocal work. With the retirement of longtime Program Director Stewart Jacoby, Lon now steps into the leadership role as Program Director, and looks forward to the next chapter for KEDT Radio.
