When Congress passed the Public Broadcasting Act in 1967, it was an
endorsement for the broadcast of educational, informational and cultural
programs. Commercial free programming was created to fill a need and set a standard among network, cable and radio stations. South Texas Public Broadcasting is committed to upholding this standard today. PROGRAM UNDERWRITING |

UNDERWRITING BENEFITS
Public Perception: By associating with the high quality broadcasts for which PBS
and NPR are known; underwriters are instantly characterized as having integrity,
being trustworthy and offering a product or service of higher value then its
competitors. Easily Identified: Credits air in a clutter-free environment, not lost in a
crowd of several on air acknowledgements at the same given time. Valuable Air Time: It isn’t just supporting public programming; Underwriters receive a credit spot either on TV or FM. Spots may run as long as 15 seconds on television and radio. All spots must conform to the FCC guidelines for non-commercial broadcast stations. |
