Listen to an audio interview conducted by KEDT's Shane Barker on March 9, with Command Master Chief, Mark McDonald, who is a Corpus Christi native returning to Corpus Christi on April 29 after an eight month deployment on board the USS Nimitz. He is the son of J.D. and Barbara McDonald of Corpus Christi and is a 1988 graduate of Carroll High School. Master Chief Mark McDonald has achieved Command Master Chief after 21 years in the Navy.

Hosted by Michael Feinstein, THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK offers a dazzling parade of American popular songs as seen and heard in some of the most beloved films ever made. With stars ranging from Al Jolson to Judy Garland to Frank Sinatra, and sounds from the Gilded Age to New Orleans jazz to Broadway musicals, THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK tells the story of the first 50 years of American popular music.

March 16, 8:00 PM Celtic Woman vocalists Lisa Kelly, Chloe Agnew, Lynn Hilary and Alex Sharpe, with violinist Mairead Nesbitt, perform at Ireland’s historic Powerscourt House and Gardens in Enniskerry, County Wicklow. The musical repertoire ranges from spirited Celtic fiddle and bodhran pieces to lush arrangements of Irish classics, contemporary covers and original compositions. In addition to the six-piece band, the Aontas Choir, a film orchestra, the Discovery Gospel Choir, the Extreme Rhythm Drummers and a bagpipe ensemble join Celtic Woman for this event.

March 19, 8:00 PM PLAYING FOR CHANGE: PEACE THROUGH MUSIC. The film brings together musicians from around the world — blues singers in a waterlogged New Orleans, chamber groups in Moscow, a South African choir — to collaborate on songs familiar and new, in the effort to foster a new, greater understanding of our commonality.
