NEW from BETH, THE BIRD LADY

“WALKING WITH THE PENGUINS”

Beth has returned from an expedition to Antarctica and is ready to share her experiences and amazing photos: icebergs, glaciers, seals, whales, the many penguins and other birds of this preserve at the bottom of the world.   This PowerPoint presentation, appropriate for all ages, is 45 – 60 minutes in length.  It also includes important information on geology, ecology, and climate changes that can affect the entire world.  This service is free of charge.  Call the KEDT Education office   855-2213   ext 2230 to make arrangement for Beth to visit your classes.   Digital projector and screen are required.


 

SPRING Forward, FALL Back!

Beginning in 2007, most of the United States begins Daylight Saving Time at 2AM on March 11.  During Daylight Saving Time (DST), clocks are turned forward an hour, effectively moving an hour of daylight from the morning to the evening.  For the history of DST visit: webexhibits.org/daylightsaving

Soundies: A Musical History with Michael Feinstein

Before TV and MTV, there were “soundies.”  First appearing in 1941, these 3-minute black & white films featured big band, jazz and swing-era artists. These forerunners to the music video feature such noted musicians as Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole and Liberace.
