The
Reconstructors
The
development team at the Center for Technology in Teaching and Learning at Rice
University has been creating and testing the effectiveness of using web-based
science materials in middle school classrooms. The result is a
research-based adventure series that students enjoy playing and more
importantly, the students demonstrate better understanding of the concepts such
as the scientific method, the nervous system, and the interaction between
science and technology after they have played it.
The
web adventure is titled The
Reconstructors.™
It
is
free thanks to funding from the National Institute on Drug Abuse and it delivers
substantive science content through two different interactive Missions
The
adventure episodes are relatively easy to download. All it takes is the Flash
plug-in that is included in the latest version of any Internet browser or can be
downloaded from the Macromedia web site.
